Hope everyone's enjoying life. Prepare for formal! Which reminds me, in case anyone is like me and easily gets confunded by the tiniest abscence of detail, the 6pm start time on the formal note refers not to school leave-time/arrival/wtva, but when it starts at Curzon Hall. I emailed Mr Lynch and he said that he anticipates people arriving at school as early as 4pm, and buses leaving around 4:45-5pm.
Delight Dim Sim- 121 Forest Road Hurstville NSW
A lil piece of heaven. This shop sells my favourite dim sims, dumplings as well as my beloved turnip cake. Oh, and also...*sly glance at Adam* CENTURY EGG!!!! Yes, I am advertising. *Gives a shove* Go there. Best thing is that you can buy all the stuff frozen and eat it at home instead of eating in the restaurant type thingo at back of shop. I'd advise against eating in. Atmosphere ain't too good but the food definitely KICKS just about every Chinese restaurant. A lot of Chinese restaurants around are just fail and make me go halfway to hating Chinese food. *Dreams of Guangzhou restaurants*. Anyway. Yes. Buy it, take it home, thaw it, steam it, eat it. Instructions especially for the guys who couldn't cook Migoreng and resorted to MSN and phoning people. ;)
Okay. So in a nutshell, I adore Hurstville for its oh so azn streets and Westfields combo. Cheap grocery/snack depots, music/dvd shops, pseudo-dollar shops, hairdressers and restaurants (favs are the one down the street from Delight Dim Sim on corner intersecting with the road between the two Westfield buildings and Sunny's seafood restaurant). The grocery shops have heaps and heaps of snack-like-product which i basically lived on during trials.
This. I found it today!!!!!! When I was little I ate literally lil buckets of this stuff cause that was how it was sold. But then parents stopped buying it and never knew the name so it disappeared from my life till now =( Was also checking out the green milk tea powder but after consulting Jamie I abandoned it. Will just pillage RamenKan whenever I feel like green milk tea X) (Eugh, feel like it NOW)
So, hairdressers. Got haircut today, though feels a bit short. Erm, Hurstville's cheaper than those city ones like Blue Star, Dreamix, Djs. If you're lucky you can get someone as good as (even better) than Dreamix, but nonetheless, still good. Though sister also had a bad experience in one =/ And Dreamix guy semi told me off for going to a different hairdresser in between which he said snipped off a lock somewhere and left my hair uneven >.> And no, he didn't realise I'd gone somewhere else until I told him. Anyway, especially in comparison with those icky non-azn franchise hairdressers Hurstville is win. Franchises are horrible, eww eww eww and cannot cut asian hair to save their life. Off the trivialities of hair^^"
For the Westernised folk who can't stand the thought of strolling down an azn-populated street (really, I saw maybe 3 Western ppl on Forest Rd today) there's a Westfields, one entrance conveniently located almost right across from station exit. This is a vibe I really enjoy. When you get enough of the street-shops, you can head inside to air-con, retail and other...shops. Though the stuff isn't as cheap as Blacktown, which for some reason is REALLY cheap, because Hurstville is so asian you are bound to find bargains. I promise ;) Though Chatswood is nicer in what they sell. I proudly announce that Tram procclaimed she now loves Chatswood. Bahaha. That's right. Tram likes it, its got to be good.
Basically, it's easy to find interesting/good stuff in Hurstville. It is hard to get lost because the only street that matters really is Forest Rd >.> Which winds on for quite a while. Well, I suppose that there's some backstreets, but wouldn't want you to get lost now would I ;)
I just felt like ranting about Hurstville. It's probably to me what Cabramatta is like to all the Cab kids...I think.
